Another Sick Kid...

Yesterday Cale was sick. Today it's Cade. Thank you daycare. :) It happens everywhere, so it ain't nuttin' but a thang. The good news is that it doesn't appear to hang around for more than 24 hours.

Hopefully everyone else isn't getting sick. Stay healthy!

A Day At The Park...

We have all been feeling kinda crappy for awhile now. Something is going around I guess and we've all been really tired. As a result, the posts slacked a bit. Usually I post after I put the kids to bed. But I've been crashing early myself. I'm actually home with Cale today as he wasn't well enough to go to daycare. I think tomorrow he'll be well enough to return.

On Sunday though Korey hung out with us for the day. The weather was nice and we needed to get out of the house for a bit. All the boys (Cade, Cale, Korey, and myself) headed over to Brecknock Park to play on the Castle and play equipment they have over there. The kids had a blast and it was a much needed break from feeling so blah.

There was a girl named Britney who was in the 3rd grade that took to Cale. She asked if she could play with him and they ran around for a bit together. It was cute watching her help Cale as if she was his big sister. Cade, at that time, was off running around with Korey.

Rock Star : Inxs - Winner Revealed

After 11 weeks J.D. is announced as the winner and new frontman for Inxs. While I probably can see why they picked him, my heart lied with Marty. The main issue I had with J.D. was his overall attitude. Then he appeared to suck up to the band to make up for his misFortunes.

That being said, J.D. did have the best stage presence and his vocal abilities were very good. In the end, I think he is a good fit for the band. Marty, the runner up, was given the opportunity to open up for the band on their world tour. Mig was given a lovely parting gift. :)

Check out Rock Star: A Night at the Mayan Theatre for some of the greatest performances by all the Rock Star vocalists.

Where's The Fire?

This weekend we took the family to a downtown area of Dover for the annual fire parade. Many different fire vehicles from all over the state lined up to show off their company. In the mix of the parade were pageant winners, marching bands, and various other acts.

I took many pictures, but won't bore you with most of them. If you visit my Flickr page, however, you'll find several pictures of the family at the event. You'll have to also look at the second page to actually see all the photos I took, as there were too many to fit on one page.

There is one really fun photo I captured when I gave Cale a lemon to eat from our iced tea. The expression on his face is priceless. You'll have to check it out. I love torturing my children. :)

Spike The Movie?

It could be true. Both Shelly and I are Joss Whedon fans. He is, of course, the creator of such things as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and most recently the new movie Serenity, which is the movie version of the Firefly tv series.

Anyway, The Movie Blog reports that a potential movie for Spike is in the works. Several of the actors and writers from the tv show are rumored to be interested in participating.

No deal has formerly been signed and no studio has signed on to back the project yet, but things are looking good. Buffy / Angel has a huge cult following. And if Serenity pulls in good numbers at the box office a deal is sure to be signed.

Donate 2 Help Katrina Victims - Ellen Gets Your Donation Matched

Everyone by now knows how bad Katrina has destroyed the lives of so many people. More and more people are stepping up and donating to various organizations like the Red Cross. Ellen DeGeneres, whom Shelly happens to watch regularly, has setup a special way to make your money go a little further.

Warner Brothers, the company that owns Ellen (the show, not her), is donating $500,000 to her relief fund off the bat. They then will match all other donations up to an additional $500,000. It's a good way for your money to go a little further. All money goes directly to The Red Cross.

Here's a LINK to find out more information and to donate.

I'm sure it's part PR hype because Warner Brothers would probably throw in the other $500,000 anyway even if all the money wasn't made. But I trust that both Ellen and The Red Cross will get the money to the people that need it. Every little bit helps. If you have donated yet, please do.

I threw a few new pictures up over @ Flickr. Check them out.

Barkeep, I'll Have Another

So this past weekend a friend of mine from work named Steve and his wife Denise had a belated house warming party. I say belated because they have been in the house over a year now, but he's been feverishly working on improvements. He's that kind of guy. Handy with tools he is. :)

Anyway, he threw a party together and invited some family, friends, and neighbors. We were invited and brought the kids, as they were welcomed also. The kids had fun being kids. They ran around, threw horse shoes, played with sticks, and built things with all of the other kids that happened to show up.

So later on, most of the kids had begun to filter out. Cade & Cale were looking for stuff to do and were drawn to the kegs of beer. Initially Cale began playing with the ice water. I did my part as a role model and father and encouraged him to dip his hands in the ice cold water and flick it on his mother. He'd get as far as running all the way over to her and then he would chicken out. It wasn't long before the excitement in the ice drew Cade in. But things suddenly took a drastic and unexpected twist. As people came over for beer, the kids wanted to help. So soon Cade & Cale became the bartenders of the night pumping the keg and filling the cups. They ended up having a lot of fun and did a really great job.

Yeah, the photos were once again taken by my phone. Guess I'm stupid. Posting evidence so Social Services can come knocking on my door. LOL! :)

Rock Star : Inxs Update

Poor Jordis. Man she been doing a backwards slide for weeks now. Her fate is probably sealed as I'm writing this now. I'll watch the show a bit later.

Anyway, here's my current take.

Jordis: See comments above.

JD: Best performer of the lot. Singing ability is so-so. Personality sucks.

Suzie: Starting to shine. The girl can sing and has recently put Jordis to shame. Bohemian Rhapsody was fantastic!

Mig: Still my guess as the overall winner. He's good, but not my favorite @ this point. There's something about his singing that I really don't care for. I dunno, it's too over the top. I think I heard he was into theater, and that's what it reminds me of.

Marty: My favorite. IMHO, a near ringer for former Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark. But that's not why I like him. He's got personality, is a talented singer, and has the ability to move people. I can only see Inxs picking him if they wish to tackle a new direction for the band. In general, has a bit more of an edge than Inxs. Go Marty!

I see Suzie, Marty, and Mig in the final 3. Performances could alter my opinion, but this is what I see @ this point.

Jordis, she's probably out tonight. Unfortunately, she also kinda deserves it.

Cale Gets Arrested!

So this weekend we visited Shelly's cousin Chad, who happens to be a New Castle County Police Officer. Actually, his wife Heather is also a NCCPD officer. Anyway, they invited us over for a Labor Day party and both of their Police cars were in their yard. Once Chad opened the doors, all the kids were drawn to it like a magnet.

This picture, which looks terrible because it was taken with my phone, is Cale's first arrest shot. Well, er, hopefully first and last. I've never seen someone so happy to be in the back of a Police car before. :) I should have made a point to bring the digital camera, but fortunately my phone is always there to back me up.

It's been fairly quite here on the homefront. I guess that's good. The weather has been beautiful. It won't be long before we're bitching that it's too cold. :)
