First Day Of Second Grade

Cade was nervous today starting second grade. By days ends all his nervousness was gone. Now that he's been in school for two years he's come to know most of the kids. That certainly makes things easier.

Cale too began doing school work at Mrs. Sherry's. He's excited and likes to do what his big brother does.

Currently they are both sitting at the table doing homework. I'll think I'll go check on how they are doing. :)

Grandma's Got Game

My mom stopped by to see this kids this weekend. They were outside playing, so she joined in. Cale was riding his scooter around. Cade gave the skateboard a go, but it wasn't long before he grabbed the football. I wasn't really in the mood and Grandma graciously volunteered. I thought to myself "this ought to be good". But you know what, Grandma's got game! She did a great job playing football with Cade. Go Grandma!

A Fish Story

This weekend I took the kids fishing for the first time. Shelly joined in the fun and we hit Silver Lake, which is a nearby lake. We selected this site to fish because the kids liked this area when we did a geocache here not too long ago. I promised one day we would return.

So, a couple weeks ago I bought them their own poles. I rigged up some casting plugs and let them practice casting the backyard. Surprisingly, they picked it up quickly.

Silver Lake is a nice little area, aside from the icky green water. There was no intent on keeping any fish, so this spot seemed like a good one. The weather was warm, but the spot we chose was a good one. It was shaded and the heat wasn't really an issue.

Cale started off strong catching the first fish. You could tell Cade was a little jealous, but he didn't let it bother him. Cale ended up catching four fish total. At this point Cade had 3. Cale decided he was done for the day. He had fun, but wanted to run around a bit. Cade wanted to press on fishing. At this point Cade went on a tear catching one fish after another. By days end he had caught 10 total.

Both kids had a blast and can't wait to go fishing again.

Check out the pictures over at Flickr. There you will also see my monster catch, which happened to be the biggest fish of the day!

Kyle & Bret Michaels

I don't know all the details yet, but apparently Kyle got to meet and hang out with Bret Michaels of Poison. He's been a fan since he was 4. I can remember when he learned all the moves to Unskinny Bop. Glad we have that one on video! I do know this picture was taken in Atlantic City, where he and his friends went to go see them. Apparently they got backstage passes to a show the next day.

Anyway, I can't wait to hear the full story the next time I see him. Rock On!
