Closed For Now...

Shocker, huh? As much as I would like to do this, right now it's difficult to find time. It's not like there was a huge readership or anything anyway. But it was nice to let friends and family know what is going on.

My plan is still to post images to Flickr. I just need to start tagging the photos and upload them.

Sorry to disappoint anyone, but I'm sure most of you are going through the same thing. If I find I have time again, I may start posting again.

I just wish I didn't need to sleep. :)

Happy New Year!

Goodbye 2007. Hello 2008! It's a new year if you haven't checked your calendar. We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year.

I'll try and post some new photos soon. I've got some Christmas shots to post over at Flickr.

Right now I've been busy prepping the family room. We're going to do a little much needed painting and I'm repairing the dings and nail pops in the walls.

The whole mess started when we bought a plasma TV. There's a TV I had been watching for a year and a half. It was way too expensive ($2000) and I couldn't warrant it since our TV worked. When the TV was on sale, it would go for $1600 - $1700. On Christmas eve, Sears had a super sale and the TV was only $1313. I finally got approval from the finance committee (Shelly), and we jumped on the deal.

Then we had the problem of not having something to put the TV in / on. Shelly picked something out that the whole family liked. It's in the process of arriving to the warehouse.

But it doesn't stop there. As I mentioned, our house is in desperate need of a paint job. So before the TV and entertainment center gets set up, I decided (with incentive from Shelly) that I want to get working on the rooms in the house. So as I work the TV rests patiently in the box. It's not going anywhere, but I look forward to hooking it up soon. The work needed to be done anyway. Getting the new TV just pushed me harder to get started on it. :) DirecTV needs to come out anyway to upgrade our dish to HD.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. We had a great Christmas here in the Lambert household. I hope the same was true for you.

Charlie Bit My Finger - Again !

This is a very funny clip that Kyle, my nephew, passed on to us. It cracked me up. Apparently it's become so popular that other people have been creating videos of their own and reenacting this one.

Get ready for Christmas! It's only a day away.

The Lambert Elves

The Lambert Elves spread Christmas cheer. See us boogie by clicking THIS LINK.

The site is getting hammered. A lot of people are doing this now. It's almost viral. Bare with any delays. It's worth it. :)

Big News

So I got up early today (5:30) to shovel snow. Yeah, we got a little snow last night. Not much, maybe an inch. Anyway, I had a little extra time and decided to post the big news.

No, Shelly is not pregnant. :) I am, however, taking a new job. After 11 years with the state I have decided to leave and take a new position with Delaware Transit. The decision was really tough because I like my job. Additionally, I have a strong bond with the people I work with.

After the deliberation and conversations with Shelly (as well as family and friends) I decided the best move would be to accept the new job. The pay is better ($8000 more) and there is more room for growth within the company. Unless I desire to be a supervisor, which at this point I don't, I really can't get promoted any further within my division. So, I'm kinda stuck just getting nominal raises at this point.

Our division does a limited amount of work for DART (Delaware Transit) now. We maintain some of the equipment in the buses. While over there one day I happened to find out about a new position they were creating. I put in for it and they ended up hiring me. It was dumb luck really. I wasn't even really looking for another job.

There are a couple projects I'm working on now, so I asked if I could start in January. They didn't have a problem with it. My first day is 1.7.2008.

Thanksgiving Feast

I'm over a week behind, but that's nothing new. This year was Thanksgiving at my parents. It was a fantastic feast and everyone had a full belly by the end of the night.

That weekend Cade, Ken, Mom, and I did a day of hiking and caching to work off all that food we ate. We saw some more really neat places in our own backyard that I never knew existed. Mom brought some yummy turkey leftovers for lunch and we had a makeshift picnic while we were out. I think everyone had a really great time.

I have some other big news to big up, but I'll save that for another post soon. :)

In the meantime, there are some new pictures over at Flickr if you feel so inclined. They roll over to page 2. Enjoy!

Too Funny!

Ok, I have to admit it. I'm nearly as stupid (actually more stupid) than this guy. I didn't the same thing with a habanero pepper and thought I was going to die. No lie. I couldn't help but laugh at someone else's misery this time. Enjoy!

Netflix

Ok, so way back when I bought my first DVD player for $180 there was a coupon in the box for Netflix. I thought to myself who in the heck would ever want to get movies in the mail? I never thought twice about it and immediately threw it away.

Many years later I find myself signing up for the service. What can I say? I was wrong.

Netflix seems to be a very cool service and the features of their web site are extremely nice. If you don't have an account and rent movies, you might want to check them out. I've started out with the $9.00 a month plan. That let's you get one movie at a time, but as many as you want in a month. $14 will get you two at a time.

Anyway, if you have an account already, let me know. I'll add you as a friend so we can compare movies. Or, better yet, HERE is a link to a friend invite from me.

Halloween Fun

I'm alive. I assure you. It's been a long time since I posted something. A lot has been going on. Let's bring you up to speed quickly...

Cub Scout Camping Trip... Total blast. Cade had a great time and can't wait to go again.

Geocaching... Did some when camping, did some with the nephews, and the kids and I went out with my mom. It's SO much fun! Lately I've been wanting to get out but I've been busy doing other things. Find someone with a GPS and try it!

Cub Scouts... Cade is really digging the Scouts. He worked hard to quickly get his Bobcat badge so he can be on a level playing field with the other Wolves in his den. We did the CR Homecoming Parade. Last week Cade, Cale, and I planted trees for a local housing community with some of the other Scouts in his Pack. They got a big kick out of that.

Sports... Football and Swimming are done. Cale earns his first sporting event medal for flag football. Cade's schedule was nuts, so we trimmed him back. Not only for his sanity, but mainly for ours! Cale has started back up with swimming. Cade will return after a short break. Karate and Scouts is good for now.

Halloween... This year the kids decided on being Secet Agents. Shelly was happy because it was an easy costume to put together. We did the normal rounds of neighbors and family. It's amazing how much candy they can get from the few houses they go to! :) Both kids had fun pretending they were on a mission.

Fall... It's here. What does fall bring? LEAVES! I hate leaves! Well, not leaves specifically, but leaves in our yard. It's a never ending battle that I lose every year. I'll be happy when they're gone. :)

So that's it in a nutshell. Sorry it's been so long. I'll try to be better.

Check out the new photos at Flickr. If you haven't seen the camping photos, be sure to go back that far. Enjoy!
